Summary

Today’s food and energy crises should not be seen solely as a threat to our well-being, but rather as a warning sign, and as a reason for people to accept temporary reductions of their wealth and conveniences in order to solve global problems and improve society’s well-being in the long run.

Julia,

I think you have some good ideas here. I like your use of change management to describe how the current situation will evolve. Next, I also appreciate your, somewhat uncommon, optimism about how to approach the crises. Finally, I think that recommending an incentive based approach is one of the better ideas mentioned in the essays. I think this is an intelligent and realistic way of changing people's behaviour. Many people in the other essays say that everyone should just come together and work for the good of humanity, but this is being a bit too simplistic. Just saying something should happen won't magically make it so.
